Our specific lot is from the El Teatro microlot on the La Pastora farm, one of four small farms owned by the husband and wife duo of Carlos and Lucia Montero. After the ripe cherries are harvested at the La Pastora farm, they are immediately brought over to the family’s Micro-mill for processing and drying. The Don Eli Micro-mill is named for Carlos’s father who passed away last year. Operations at the mill are overseen by Carlos’s son Jacob, one of the bright young stars in the next generation of Specialty Coffee professionals in Costa Rica. Export and quality control operations are handled by Carlos’s daughter and son-in-law to make this a true family affair. This is the 9th year in our relationship with the Montero Family. This lot has won multiple medals at Golden Bean North America National Roasting Championships and received a 93 pt Coffee Review.
